Palermo City, Sicily Webcam

A certain Irish-owned airline, mentioning no names, but you know who it is, often has budget flights on offer from several UK airports to Palermo. If you’ve been searching for a cheap getaway and spotted a flight for less than a typical bus fare and are now checking out the city, don’t let the view on this webcam put you off grabbing that bargain.

Palermo is the capital of Sicily, the island in the Med at the tip of Italy’s boot. To explore the city, you’ll need to pack some decent walking shoes as it sprawls over almost one-hundred and sixty square kilometres. You wouldn’t need to worry too much about sweaters and jackets taking up space in your cabin bag. Palermo has a balmy climate pretty much throughout the year although it can get rainy in the winter months so an umbrella could come in handy when you’re sightseeing. And the same as in the rest of Italy, there’s not a shortage of things to see.

Think Gothic-style architecture, cathedrals, museums and of course, the proverbial Ancient Roman ruin or two or three or more. You won’t go hungry traipsing around either as Palermo has an amazing street food scene which will have you nibbling on arancini, milinciani fritte, sfinciuni and if you’re gastronomically adventurous, babbaluci. If you want to know what any of those are, well, you’ll just have to book that flight and go and find out for yourself.
