Stornes, Bergseng & Grytøya Webcam

If you were a fish living in a fish bowl on the windowsill of a house in the municipality of Harstad in Norway, this could quite possibly be the view you would see through the glass.  Or that’s the impression this webcam lens inspires. As the cam angle doesn’t change, you’d be fortunate to be a fish as you’d soon forget you’d been staring at the same thing for hours on end. It is, in all honesty, one of those webcam views that would probably totally fascinate a landscape painter, or better said still life artist, as the only aspect of the view that alters on occasion is the weather.

This part of northern Norway isn’t quite as remote as it gets in this country, but it’s not far off. The urbanisations in this region are few and far between. Some have even managed to escape the notice of Google so if you’re looking for somewhere to hide away from public view, you may well have just discovered it. The villages here are also minimally inhabited so you wouldn’t have to worry about being recognised or running into someone you knew.

Drop by this cam between the end of November and January and you probably won’t see much more than lights twinkling in the distance as that’s when twenty-four hour darkness descends on the Stornes Peninsula. Then again, you never know, you might strike lucky and see those dancing rainbows in the sky commonly known as the Aurora Borealis. That’s something definitely worthwhile trying to catch a glimpse of even if it is through a fish bowl webcam lens.
