The Kingdom of Norway occupies the western portion of the Scandinavian peninsula in northern Europe. It has an extensive coastline broken by many scenic fjords with steep snow-capped mountains and glaciers running down to the glassy sea. Its main economy is dependant upon shipping and its large oil reserves beneath the North Sea along with fishing, timber and hydropower. Most of the 4.4 million Norwegians live on the coast or in the capital city, Oslo.
