Mountainous Views from Thame Village in the Himalayas

If you’ve been searching for spectacular mountain scenery, congratulations, you’ve find it with this live feed. If you were searching for a webcam focused on Thame in the British county of Oxfordshire, try again because with this cam you’re more than a few thousand kilometres off course. What you are seeing here are a few rooftops of houses in Thame Village, Nepal, and part of one of the largest mountain ranges in the world, the Himalayas.

Thame Village nestles on a plateau at an oxygen-depriving altitude of just under four-thousand kilometres. Not surprisingly, not so many people live there and those that do are mostly Sherpas and their families. It could be something in the mountain air or then again not, but Thame has been the birthplace and home to several of the most famous Sherpa’s of all time including Tenzing Norgay, Ang Rita Sherpa and Appa Sherpa. Visitors to the village, as you might guess, don’t just drop by for a quick cup of Nepali tea. They’re those who have thrown all caution to the wind and are passing through on the way to the Mount Everest base camp or want to trek some of the high altitude trails in the region.

What makes this view of the Himalayas extra special is it’s probably one most people, unless they’re Nepalese or planning on hiking up mountains, will never see in person. If the truth be told, you still might not get to see it digitally if the clouds have decided to descend and block the view. Should that occur, exercise a bit of patience and pop back another time to see if your luck is in.
