Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area Webcam in Linton

If you land on this cam and it’s focused on a bird box stuck on the end of a pole, rest assured this is not a nest box provided for use by geese. Why? For one, a goose has no chance of squeezing through that entrance hole and two, they much prefer to build their nests in the open air and usually at ground level. While this wildlife preservation area near Linton in Indiana is named Goose Pond, there are many more species of ave that either inhabit the zone or fly in to take a respite from flapping their wings as they’re making their annual migration.

The Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area is a boggy wetland covering around twenty square kilometres of the south central region of the state of Indiana. Birds are not the only creatures that flock to this tranquil oasis, it’s popular with a particular species of the two-legged kind too. That species would be humans who get up to many more activities than the birds, resident or otherwise, do. You can get involved in just about any outdoor activity at Goose Pond, well, apart from bouldering and mountaineering as the landscape is about as flat as the British Fens. But that’s not altogether a bad thing when you’re out hiking the trails with a pair of binoculars hanging around your neck.

As long as you get the requisite permit you don’t have to restrict yourself to being a landlubber either. Kayaking and boating is allowed so long as you don’t decide to jump overboard and take a quick dip. If you’re of a mind to not go home hungry, here you can fish, forage along the shoreline for edibles or even bag a turkey for your thanksgiving dinner. Does this live feed streaming from the visitor’s centre get more exciting than a bird box on a pole? Stick around to find out.
