Stork Cam in Smedager

Storks build nests in some precarious places. The one focused on by this Stork webcam streaming from Smedager in Denmark is no different.

It’s a miracle of nature how these large and ungainly birds ever manage to balance on their spindly legs in the nests they build at great heights. How they don’t fall out when they start clacking their bills together in stork-talk is another mystery.

Storks breed during the spring or summer and can lay their eggs anytime between April and September. The eggs take a round a month to hatch and the newly emerging chicks aren’t ready to leave the nest for a couple of months at least. It takes a chick several years to become fully mature by which time its wingspan will have grown to measure anywhere up to seven feet.
