Roman Catholic Church Webcam in Maciejkowice, Chorzow

This live feed will come in very handy during the harsh winter months in Poland for those who follow the Roman Catholic faith. No more struggling through the snow and freezing temperatures to make your weekly confession. Now you can participate in the services at the Church of the Lady of Perpetual Help and St Rosalia from home. And rather than tell the priest about your misdemeanors, you can whisper them to your cat, dog or even the curtains. You’ll find they’re just as non-judgemental as the local priest.

Maciejkowice in the southern Polish district of Chorzow is a rural village with a history dating back to the 15th century. It’s named after a saint, but not the same ones this church is named after. Maciejkowice is named for St Mathias, one of the apostles. Maciejkowice wasn’t much of a village back then as it had less than a handful of inhabitants. It has changed over time though and the area’s urban growth means it’s now been incorporated into the outer limits of the city of Chorzów.

While you can’t see the outside of the church on this feed, it’s a relatively modern building which is only around a decade old. The church’s most outstanding external feature is its bell tower, a lofty piece of very eye-catching black and cream architecture. Modern or not, it serves its purpose well and when the bell chimes calling the local folk to mass, they arrive in droves – weather permitting. If there’s no service in progress when you join the cam, you can ponder your sins while admiring the flower displays. They are, as far as church flower displays go, exceptionally well done.
