Lauttasaari is an island a short distance from Finland’s capital, Helsinki. With no tides to contend with, flat waves and frequent gusts of south-westerly wind, it’s a popular spot for kiteboarding.

Lauttasaari and Helsinki may be separated by water but they’re connected by a bridge carrying both vehicles and a metro train service. That makes getting equipment over to the waters around Lauttasaari a lot easier for the keen kiteboarders who head there from the city. It’s much more relable than waiting for the wind to blow them over from Helsinki too.
