Rutland Osprey Project Webcam
Rutland Water is a huge, horseshoe-shaped reservoir in south-east England with abundant fish life surrounded by acres and acres of tranquil countryside. It is the ideal habitat for ospreys to raise their young and there have been several pairs returning to the nature reserve there to nest year after year.
Ospreys, or fish hawks, fly in from Africa around the middle of March to begin their mating and nesting season. Eggs are laid in mid-April and incubated by both parent birds for around thirty-seven days. Chicks stay in the nest for a further fifty days and don’t fly far until they’re over three months old so there’s plenty to view on this osprey live feed.
