Live in the Desi Bermi district of central Java and you could be one more who visits the Masjid Baiturohman Mosque to do some open worship. Open worship here doesn’t mean the following of any religion or praying to a different god than the one the mosque is dedicated to, it just means there are no doors on the building.

Folks always seem to be in a hurry to get into the mosque so watch for a while and you’ll see them whizzing up on mopeds, parking and running up the steps to join the prayer meetings. You’ll soon notice that the one thing that’s not included in the teachings of the religious leaders at this mosque is how to park scooters in a straight line.
