Stockholm City Live Cam

Take a look at this live feed being streamed from Stockholm and it’s hard to believe you’re viewing part of Sweden’s capital city. There’s not a tower block of offices or even a thirty-story apartment high rise to be seen. That’s because this cam is focused on the Vasastan district of the city and it’s a district that’s renowned for its picturesque low-level buildings, parks and well-planned urban spaces. If you’re checking it out because you’re considering relocating there, you’ll need a healthy income to support this area’s exorbitant prices. As always, perfection or as close to perfection as you can get, comes at a high price.

Vasastan is a nucleus of Stockholm which covers around three square kilometres of the city’s almost four-hundred square kilometres of urban spread. Its development was initiated at the end of the 19th century and while the rest of the city expanded, Vasastan hasn’t changed a great deal since then. Which, one glimpse will confirm, isn’t such a bad thing as it’s an area that has maintained its original character and probably will do for the foreseeable future.

One of the features that makes Vasastan such a desirable, and expensive, place to live are its beautiful park areas. Take a stroll through any of those and rather than being in a capital city, you could be convinced you’re ambling in the Swedish countryside. They’re park areas that have, over the years, become places of contemplation and inspiration. Commemorated by a statue in the Tegnérlunden Park is the Swedish author, Astrid Lindgren, who created the now infamous character of book and film, Pippi Longstocking. If you’re a writer and short on creative mojo, the Vasastan District of Stockholm might just be the place to visit to cure your writer’s block.
