Hong Kong City Webcam

Hong Kong is a world to itself and not somewhere you’d choose to go sightseeing if you like a bit of peace and a decent amount of elbow space. This area of the south coast of China has become so jam-packed with skyscrapers and people there’s no room left to encourage anyone to even contemplate swinging the proverbial cat. But, as you can see from the view on this live feed, it somehow manages to retain its own unique attractiveness particularly when viewed from a distance.

While you may think this mass urbanisation that covers over almost three-thousand square kilometres is a city, it’s not. It has a different status, that of Special Administrative Region which, for better or worse, means it’s almost independent to the rest of the country and pretty much governs itself. Is that something that the majority of the seven and a half million people who live there think about on a daily basis? Probably not as they’re too busy struggling to get from A to B through the throngs congesting the roads and public transport systems.

Hong Kong, the city, which isn’t a city but almost a country in its own right, is something of a world record breaker. Not only can it boast having the most skyscrapers in the world, easily beating high-rise infested New York and Dubai by a good few hundred buildings, it’s also one of the most densely populated places on the planet. Strangely enough, considering the high levels of pollution and environmental stress elements, its residents have one of the highest life expectancies worldwide. That’s definitely something to ponder over while you enjoy the view.
