While the buildings seen on this webcam may look externally unexciting, what goes on inside isn’t. The Florida Institute of Technology is where those gifted with high-level grey matter, think extra brainy bods, go to study everything from aerodynamics to marine biology to aerospace engineering. And everything else that you can think of that sounds incredibly complicated.

Many of the elite that attend this university-research centre go on to have outstanding careers in their chosen fields. Some rocket off into outer space as astronauts, others excel in high ranking military positions while others take the political or judicial path. But there is one ex-alumni’s talents we should all probably be thankful for and that’s Frank J. Canova, the man who invented the smartphone. Whatever would we have done without him?
