There’s not many American cities that can be called quaint, but Portsmouth in New Hampshire is worthy of the word.
Skyscraper-free Portsmouth with it’s colorful buildings lining the harbor is reminiscent of a Scandinavian coastal fishing village. It’s a look that attracts plenty of summer visitors too, but beware, Portsmouth has an unforgettable effect on folk.
Maybe it’s something in the air or it could be the city’s super seafood. Whether they set out to browse the Strawbery Banke Museum, check out the USS Albacore Submarine Museum or just lounge around snacking on a lobster roll or munching on a bucket of crawfish, anyone heading to Portsmouth will have a visit to remember for all the right reasons.
