Blue Tits Nest Box Webcam in Sheffield

Blue tits are one of Britain’s most iconic and easily recognisable resident birds. You don’t need to be an expert ornithologist to know what species they are when you spot one and you will spot one as the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds estimate there’s around fifteen million of them inhabiting the UK during the winter.

The pair you’ll see on this cam have decided to make their home in Sheffield. It took a while for Frank and Felicia to decide this box was the right residence, but since the first week of April, 2024, they’ve settled in and done some serious nest building. Eggs could be appearing anytime as tits generally lay between late March to early June. Once Felicia sits on them she doesn’t get off until they hatch which takes around fourteen days. Until the eggs arrive they flit in and out throughout the day, so if they’re absent when you join the live feed, don’t worry, they’ll be back. They’ll have fluttered off to dig in BirbmanPat’s garden for a juicy bug, to raid his bird feeders for nuts or to find another bit of fluff to line their nest with.
