If you’re an avid trainspotter, lick the lead of your pencil in readiness to jot down the numbers of the engines passing through the Amersfoort Central Station, there’s plenty to keep you going. If you’re not a train spotter, as the view is less than exciting, you may find the signposts interesting.

Amersfoort is in parts a picturesque city, a fact not particularly noticeable from this live feed, that’s located in central Holland. It’s renowned for its mediaeval architecture which includes the well-preserved, 14th century turreted Koppelpoort and the equally impressive Monnikendam, another well-kept turreted reminder of the city’s bygone days.

Amersfoort Central Station is housed in a modern structure which, at a quick glance, resembles an air traffic control tower. While not as eye-pleasing as the city’s historic centre, the station serves its purpose. It’s somewhere to catch a train and provides shelter from the elements not just for passengers, but for those trainspotters who choose to catch their action live rather than via webcam.
