Southampton is a village within the southern fork of Long Island which is known for being a destination for more of the affluent visitors from the area and is seen as the Hamptons’ commercial center. It is the oldest English settlement in New York, having been founded in 1640 and is the namesake of an English town also named after the Earl of Southampton.
