Suzu City Webcam
The view of Suzu City on this webcam makes it appear thoroughly modern, but it has a sea trading history that dates back centuries. Located in the Ishikawa prefecture on the west coast of Honshu Island in Japan, Suzu City was also historically famous for the production of a special type of pottery and that seasoning no-one can live without – salt.
Salt still plays an important role in the economy of the city, but as a tourist attraction rather than a labour intensive industry. Looking at the size of the houses you can see on this live feed, it looks as though, rather than bring the bad luck spillages of the mineral are usually associated with, salt has brought the folks of Suzu good luck and prosperity. Or, could it be they’re just experts at throwing it over their shoulders?
