The history of Nordfjordeid in Norway has been intertwined with the ship industry for centuries. This town founded by ancient seafarers sits at the end of the Eidsfjorden, a tributary of the main Nordfjorden from which it takes its name and is practically cut off from the world by water.

The Port of Nordfjordeid may receive modern shipping now, but the town continues to celebrate its Viking heritage in the Sagastad. The museum houses a full-size replica Viking burial ship complete with oars, shields and a dragon figurehead on the prow.
