Barra do Garças Traffic Webcam

From high above Barra do Garças in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, this webcam watches traffic making its way along one of the city’s main routes towards the bridge over the Garças River. Cars, motorbikes, buses and lorries provide a fairly constant stream of activity, while the elevated viewpoint also gives a good look across the rooftops and out towards the greener landscape beyond the city.

The bridge ahead crosses the Rio Garças into neighbouring Aragarças, in the state of Goiás. The two cities effectively sit opposite one another on either side of the river, in a region where the Garças meets the much larger Araguaia River. It’s a popular part of Brazil for its rivers and freshwater beaches, particularly when falling water levels reveal great stretches of sand during the dry season.

Locally the stream is useful for checking traffic, weather and what’s happening around the bridge, but from further afield it makes for an interesting everyday window onto central Brazil. There’s certainly no shortage of motorbikes, and watching everyone negotiate the junction and roundabout below may leave you feeling rather better about your own morning commute.
