Scenic Views of the Sarine Valley and the Fribourg Pre-Alps

If you’ve been searching for a landscape webcam to relax your eyeballs, and mind, after a stressful week, you’ve hit the proverbial jackpot with this one. We can only say a big thank you to André Baechler, who streams this feed, for sharing the view from his window with us. It’s amazing. If this spread of verdant fields, trees and rolling hills doesn’t do the hoped for trick, maybe it’s time to seriously consider taking up meditation for a hobby rather than scrolling through webcams.

It’s not surprising that the Sarine Valley and the Fribourg Prealps are a popular place to go hiking in summer and are a magnet for winter sports enthusiasts when there’s snow on the ground. The canton, or state, of Fribourg occupies almost one-thousand, seven-hundred square kilometres of terrain in western Switzerland. That extensive terrain is criss-crossed by networks of trails with spectacular views enjoyed by both explorers on foot and on skis.

Those magnificent views, and part of what you can see on this feed, are made up of the Fribourg Prealps. The Prealps are part of the lower regions of the Bernese Alps and consist of a range of well over two hundred mini peaks so there’s not much chance we’ll be naming them all here. If you’re planning to get your hiking boots or skis out of storage and putting them to good use, this might be an ideal place to head for. If you’d rather remain a couch potato, and who can blame you if you’ve had a hard week, don’t forget to heart the cam in appreciation of André taking the time to share it with us.
