If you’re tired of the massive tourist-invaded resorts of the Costa del Sol like Fuengirola and Benidorm, you’re doing the right thing by taking a quick glimpse of Tossa de Mar. It is, to coin a somewhat antiquated phrase, a completely different kettle of fish.

Tossa de Mar is a coastal fishing town near Girona on Spain’s Costa Brava where you can forget about rows and rows of high rise hotels lining the beach front and just enjoy a Spanish seaside town as it should be. In Tossa de Mar, and on this webcam, you can still get uninterrupted views of the town’s mediaeval fortress and enjoy an almost unexploited beach. 

If you go there and enjoy hiking, consider stepping foot on the GR92. It’s not the Camino de Santiago, but a more modern network of hiking trails that runs across several European countries. You can join the GR92 in Tossa de Mar and walk the twenty kilometres to the beautiful harbour town of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. Be careful not to go in the wrong direction though or you’ll end up in Lloret de Mar and be back among the travesty of mass tourism once again.
