Statue of Liberty Torch Webcam

This live feed streamed by Earth Cam of the Statue of Liberty will give you a view of the US’s iconic Libertus you may not have seen before. Yes, it’s a monumental view of the top of her head.

The cam is fixed somewhere on the torch she has been holding aloft for more than a century. If the view gives you vertigo, it’s hardly surprising as it’s over ninety metres from the torch to the ground. Take a good look and you might be surprised to notice that, even though no-one will see it unless they’re flying by in a helicopter or checking out this cam, the French sculptor, Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, gave the statue a well-groomed head of hair. One curious question that remains unanswered though is – how Lady Liberty manages to remain unadorned by seagull splats or is it that the camera is just a little bit too far away to see them?
