Leusden Tennis Courts Webcam

No, the Leusden tennis courts you can see on this feed can’t be compared to Wimbledon, but it’s a pretty good installation if you’re into whacking balls with a racquet. Here there might not be stadium style seating, like there is at one of the world’s top tennis venues, so spectators have to make do with a couple of picnic tables and a park bench or two. That’s not such a bad thing either as even VIPs at Wimbledon have to balance their cucumber sandwiches or strawberries and cream on their knees. No such inconvenience here as the provision of that table makes eating while viewing a game a much more comfortable experience.

Whether you’ll actually spot someone batting a ball over the net remains to be seen as, on occasion, the courts seem to be abandoned. That may be because the temperamental wintertime Dutch elements have put games on hold or the players, not being waterproof, have opted to use the clubs two indoor courts instead. Which when all said and done, is probably a wise decision considering Leusden is located in a pretty damp part of the Netherlands.

That regular rainfall helps keep the abundant forests in the surrounding area green all year round which is ideal if you want to take a summertime hike under some leafy trees. That’s not so great in the winter months though, but there’s still plenty of off-court activities to keep the thirty-odd thousand local folk occupied. And one of those is shopping. For a town of its size, Leusden has an abundance of retail outlets which is handy when you’re in need of some new tennis whites or a replacement racquet.

Will you see a budding champion strutting onto these courts in their new gear? There’s no telling, but as it’s been almost twenty years since the last great Dutch player, Richard Krajicek, graced the courts of Wimbledon and won, it’s probably a good idea not to hold your breath while waiting.
