The Aqueduct of Segovia
When the Romans built something, they built it to last and the Segovia Aqueduct is testimony to their construction skills.
The millennium-old structure towers over the Plaza de Azoguejo in Segovia like a giant’s discarded hair comb. The Romans were a thirsty lot and the aqueduct ensured the garrisons occupying this Spanish city at the time had an adequate supply of fresh water. With over one-hundred and fifty arches constructed of unmortared, square stones, it’s a true testimony to the ingenuity of Roman engineering.
