Kyiv City Webcams

The capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, is located in the central northern region of the country around one-hundred and fifty kilometres from the Ukraine-Belarus border.

Built along both banks of the Dnieper River, Kyiv is one of the oldest cities in Europe and has a history dating back to the 5th century if not earlier. The broad river separates the city’s industrial zone from the residential area where the golden domes of St Sophia’s Cathedral, Kyiv Pechersk Lavra monastery, St Michael’s monastery and the ornate gilding of St Andrew’s Church gleam under turbulent skies.

Kyiv has stood as the Ukraine capital since 1918 when the country became independent from Soviet Russia. Let’s hope Kyiv continues to stand as the European cultural icon it’s become and doesn’t fall under the hammering blows of another invasion. If it does, for certain, it’ll rise phoenix-like again just as it did after the devastation rained upon it in WW2.
