Just south of Charleston lies Folly Beach, a city in its own right on Folly Island. Popular with day-trippers and college folk, many people spend their days lazing under umbrellas or swimming in the sea here. The pier in view is used as a fishing pier and you can rent all the gear and bait locally to have a go.
