The dam that forms the reservoir, Lake Solina, at over six hundred and fifty metres in length, is the longest dam in Poland. The lake itself covers an area of twenty-two square kilometres which makes it the biggest reservoir in the country. The village of Solina by the waterside doesn’t rank high on any biggest-of list and only has a population of around two hundred. That said though, it is one of the best places in the south of the country to head to for water-oriented sports and sedate, but very scenic sailing so it manages to be number one for something and it’s a ranking that’s justly deserved too.
