If you join this live feed streaming from Snook’s Bayside Restaurant during the daytime and sighed at the view, that’s not surprising. Could it get any better? Yes, it can and does on a daily basis. Rejoin the cam when the sun is setting and you’ll be so impressed, it may well leave you breathless and at a loss for words. If you don’t have time to rejoin the cam at the right time just scroll back the live feed a few hours and you can watch the sun go down on the previous day. Isn’t technology amazing?
Key Largo is one of the largest sections of the Florida Keys, a series of land masses of varying sizes formed by the erosion of a coral reef after the ocean depth lowered and exposed it to the elements. Humans didn’t take long to make the most of the key’s scenic setting and it’s been inhabited, in one form or another, since the 16th century. While population may have been sparse back then, it no longer is today as over twelve thousand, very fortunate folk, now call it home.
That population increase was initiated in the late 1940s after a movie starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall was released. The key looked so good on the cinema screen, even though it was filmed in black and white and was about a gangster takeover, that it soon became a popular vacation destination. And it still is today especially for divers, snorkelers and kayakers. The good thing is, you don’t need to be into adventure sports to enjoy the sunset. Thanks to Snook’s Bayside you can sit on a terrace and sip a Snook’s sunset cocktail while that blazing ball dips below the horizon. Or alternatively, but not quite so much fun, make your own sundowner and watch it via this live feed from home.
