Walworth Road Webcam in London

This is not the right webcam to be viewing if you were hoping to take a look at some of London’s famous monuments. What you’ll see on this Walworth Road live feed is a sneaky glimpse of everyday day in the British capital. Is it worth watching for a while? The answer to that question is – on occasion yes and on occasion no. Whichever occasion is happening when you join the cam, even if it’s in a let’s say negative moment, you will get an insight into how the locals go about their day.

Walworth Road runs through the heart of the London suburb of Walworth in the borough of Southwark. It stretches from an area known as the Elephant and Castle at one end to Burgess Park in Camberwell at the other. Although Walworth has a history dating back centuries, it’s not a suburb that’s renowned for anything in particular. Well, other than being mentioned in a popular tale by Charles Dickens written during his creative period of documenting London slum life.

Take a stroll along the three and a quarter kilometre length of Walworth Road today and you’ll find it lined with the proverbial type of retail outlet that seems to abound on city backstreets. You can forget finding high end stores that sell designer fashion here. On Walworth Road you’re more likely to end up rummaging through rails of secondhand clothes and shelves of once-loved, but now discarded, knickknacks in a charity shop. There’s no shortage of choice for places to get a quick hair trim or your nails done either. While you won’t see any of those establishments on this feed, join the cam early in the morning and you will spot the local council road-sweeper busy at his job of keeping Walworth Road litter-free. He deserves a big thumbs up for that.
