Obor Square Webcam in Bucharest

This webcam may well have you wondering why something so circular in shape is called a square. We don’t have the answer to that conundrum. If you do then please let us know by posting the answer in the comments. If you don’t know the answer either watching the traffic negotiate this busy roundabout will keep your eyes occupied while you ponder.

This round square is a central feature of Bucharest, the capital of Romania. The city, first settled by Vlad the Impaler in the 15th century, is now home to almost two million people. Its turbulent history hasn’t stopped it developing into the cultural city it is today though. As its spread along both sides of the Dâmbovița River, its multiple park areas have kept it about as green as a city that’s been built on deforested land can get.

Ober Square, or Ober Plaza, was once the spot in the city where farmers would bring their livestock to market, ober translates to something akin to animal enclosure. These days you won’t see any cows, sheep or goats hoofing it up the highway, but it is still, a major retail district in the city. No, you can’t see that from the view on this live feed, but it is all there – somewhere.
