They don’t do things by halves in the Belgian city of Sint-Niklaas especially when it comes to building market squares and holding festivals. The marketplace this webcam streaming from the town hall is focused on is one of the biggest in the country and hosts some mega-sized events that are quite unique.

Drop back to view this cam at the beginning of September and you won’t see the market square’s flagstones for giant hot air balloons. That’s an annual event that has to be seen to be appreciated. If you can’t wait that long for some diversion check the cam out on Thursdays as that’s when the massive square fills with stalls for the weekly market. That’s not as colourful as either the city’s springtime carnival or Christmas celebration. They’re the times when the city’s giant mannequins are taken out of storage and paraded around the square. Don’t miss viewing them. They’re so big they make even the market square look small.
