Polar Bears at the Alaska Zoo
Polar bears are incredible animals whose natural habitat is the frozen wastes of the Arctic Circle. That’s not the easiest place in the world to visit so seeing polar bears in the wild is impossible for most people.
This live feed streaming from the webcam in the Polar Bear Habitat at Alaska Zoo in Anchorage gives a sneak preview of what polar bears get up to on a daily basis. The polar bears at the zoo are ones that have been rescued from the wild and are part of the zoo’s conservation program.
If there’s a polar bear or cub in trouble in Alaska, the zoo will head out to save them then take care of them until they’re ready to be released back to the wild. Those that can’t be released have a permanent, and very comfortable, home at the zoo
