Marmaris Beach Webcam
If you’re holiday deprived then you’ll love this live feed being streamed by Emre Hotels from Marmaris Beach. It has everything, and more, that you could possibly ask for on a week or two away. Think sun, in the daytime obviously, sand, the proverbial palm trees and plenty of activity on the water to keep you viewing for a while. If the sight of the waiters delivering cocktails to those fortunate folks reclining on the sunbeds turns you green with envy, you’ll just have to put up with that or focus your vision somewhere else.
Marmaris is a resort and port city on the south coast of Turkey. Perched on the edge of a peninsula which could eventually, hypothetically speaking, after another couple of millennium’s worth of erosion, become an island. Geographically, Marmaris is a few hundred kilometres closer to Rhodes than it is to the country’s capital, Ankara, and equally as far from the historically famous city of Istanbul. Will that peninsula eventually detach itself from the Turkish mainland and join the other one-hundred and sixty odd that make up the Greek Dodecanese archipelago? Who knows. That’s something none of us will be around to see.
But in the meantime, Marmaris continues to claim its place as one of the top tourist resorts in Turkey. Over two million visitors bombard this Mediterranean location every year. But even though the city’s permanent population numbers over a hundred thousand, there’s still plenty of space on the beach for everyone. Where are the ferries that criss-cross these tranquil waters going? To Heaven Island, which isn’t an island at all, but is the location of a cave where cult worshipping to the Greek gods of old took place. Even better, some are heading to Simi and Rhodes so there’s no shortage of interesting day trips.
NB: If you’ve read this far and haven’t started searching for flights while throwing clothes in a suitcase, it’s probably because you’ve got distracted by the Emre Hotel’s super smart waiters delivering drinks or if not that, then the stupendous view.
