These wonderful whirligigs were crafted by the sculptor or junkyard artist, Vollis Simpson, after he retired from his job as a farm machinery repairman. Made from old and disused farm equipment, there are thirty individual pieces, the tallest of which towers a staggering seventeen metres high. To see them at their best all you have to do is hope the wind is blowing in the right direction.
