St. Martin Panorama Webcam
St Martin may seem an unlikely name for a town in Germany, but there you have it. St Martin, or Sankt Martin, is an urbanisation in the Rhineland-Palatinate district in the southwest of the country. In its founding days, it was named after a religious figure from the 4th century, Martin of Tours, who was later sainted and that name has stuck through the centuries.
One of the town’s most attractive features is its centre which dates back to medieval times. Stay with the cam as it pans and you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of some of the historic buildings, but a glimpse it will be before the cam moves on to more modern structures. There’s no doubt St Martin and its residents are determined to keep up with the times and superficially at least, the town appears to be heading in an eco-friendly direction. So, if you get bored looking at the neatly tiled roofs and the views of the verdant hills behind them, you can always start counting the rooftop solar panels which will keep you occupied for a while as there’s quite a few.
Apart from its historic centre, St Martin has another outstanding feature and that feature is its church. The church is a Gothic-style structure that pretty much dominates the town’s skyline as well as the surrounding countryside. Stay with the cam long enough and you’ll spot the cable crossing the view, but don’t get too excited when you do. It’s sad to say, but it’s just an old fashioned over-ground power cable and not a zipline folks can whizz down to get to the church services on time.
