At a staggering twelve and a half thousand feet plus, Humphreys Peak is Arizona’s highest mountain and one which is covered with a twenty-foot deep blanket of snow every winter.

The heavy annual snowfall is put to good use in the Arizona Snowbowl, a ski resort on the peak’s northwestern and western slopes. While the mountain is hikable in summer, it’s not in winter so a ride up on the Arizona Gondola chairlift is the way to get to the top. It’s a stunningly scenic ride too.

Ski, sled, snowboard, snowshoe, toboggan or even just slide, getting down Humphreys Peak is definitely easier than getting up. And mega fun too!
