Collioure and Views of the Mediterranean

Viewing Collioure, a town on the south coast of France, through this webcam feed streamed by the Restaurant la Balette is like glimpsing history come to life.

Collioure was once a fishing village renowned for its catches of anchovies, but now it’s the historic buildings around its harbour that hook shoal after shoal of visitors. A seafront royal palace dating from the 13th century, a pink-domed belltower of the same era that’s been used as a prison and a lighthouse plus the multi-toned houses of the old town are just some of its attributes. Not to mention uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean which would be more than enough on their own.

Sit on the terrace of the Restaurant la Balette, where the cam is located, snap a photo of Collioure harbour across the bay, send it to a friend and it’ll look just like a postcard from the past that’s taken a few hundred years to be delivered.
