Webcams Around the Black Hills of South Dakota

Take a quick flick through this collection of webcams and given the views, you’ll probably come to the quick conclusion that South Dakota isn’t one of the most scenic states in the US. Think that and you’ll be suffering from a misconception.

Rapid City, Box Elder, Deadwood are three cities on the edge of the Black Hills National Forest and Terry Peak is a ski resort in the heart of the forest. Not only are the Black Hills of South Dakota a place of incredible natural beauty with amazing geological formations like the Cathedral Spires, they’re the location of two of the country’s most monumental artworks, Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. It’s worth visiting the state just to see those even though the latter is still, after seventy-five years, very much a work in progress. If you can’t get there to see them in person, you’ll just have to make do with the views on these cams. They may not be quite as attractive, but there are black hills and pine trees in theĀ  distance if you look hard enough and the odd communications tower for contrast.
