Mirror Lake in the Adirondack Mountains

The Ausable River Association who stream this webcam sponsored by Golden Arrow work towards keeping their local rivers and lakes clean. They’ve done such a good job at Mirror Lake that, if you were standing on the shoreline, it’s so pristine you can see your face in it.

Mirror Lake is a hundred and twenty-two acres of water bordered by the village of Lake Placid and backed by the Adirondack Mountains. While it may appear to be the epitome of tranquility, it’s actually anything but peaceful.

Mirror Lake is a popular spot in the north of New York state for non-motorised water sports like kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding in the warmer months. When it freezes over in the winter, the lake is used for ice fishing and dog sledding as well as ice skating and cross country skiing so keep watching and you’ll see plenty of aquatic action that has nothing to do with trout breaking the surface.
