The Nordic Kingdom of Sweden is part of Scandinavia in northern Europe. It is linked to Denmark by a 16km bridge across the Oresund Strait. This beautiful country is the third largest in the EU yet it is sparsely populated by its 9 million residents.
The northernmost parts of Lapland lie in the Arctic Circle where the Aurora Borealis can be seen in this Land of the Midnight sun. The country has plenty of wooded mountains but its lowest point at Lake Hammarsjon is actually 2.41metres (almost 8 feet) below sea level.
