Auckland East Weather Cam
On occasion, this live feed will deliver some fantastic coastal views of East Auckland and on other occasions it won’t. If you joined the cam to find out what the weather is doing before you leave home, good idea, that’s what this feed streamed by Niwa Weather is for. But if you see nothing but swirling grey, don’t be surprised and don’t be worried either. It’ll be a temporary weather condition, rather than a technical mishap on Niwa Weather’s part, that’s blurring the screen and obscuring the scenery.
East Auckland is the largest urbanisation in New Zealand. The city is home to over a hundred and fifty thousand folk, most of whom can’t see their hands in front of their faces on their way to work when a sea mist rolls in off the South Pacific Ocean. It’s not a weather phenomena that lasts for very long though and it has a tendency to disperse pretty quickly. Exercise a bit of patience and once the fog clears, you’ll be able to see this stunning New Zealand landscape with clarity.
Here are a few facts to muse over while checking weather cams and crunching on your morning cornflakes. East Auckland began to develop as a settlement way back in the 14th century. During the seven-hundred years since then it’s grown to cover around seventy square miles of North Island’s northern peninsula. The Maori name for East Auckland, Tāmaki Makaurau, more or less translates to English as being a desirable location. And when the fog clears, you’ll be able to see for yourself that’s a name that’s totally justified.
