El Salvador is a country in Central America that deserves a lot more attention than it usually gets. It may have had a turbulent history which has kept mass tourism at bay, but the world is now waking up to its natural and man-made attributes. El Salvador has numerous Mayan and Olmec archeological sites, more than a few national parks where hiking trails wind through the rainforests and incredible beaches ideal for surfing plus fast flowing rivers for those who want a whitewater rafting adventure. Maybe it would be better if it stays as it has been – a well kept secret only the minority of travellers know about.
