The state of Vermont is part of New England in the north east of the US. Although it has no sea border, almost 50% of Vermont’s western border lies along Lake Champlain. The state capital is Montpelier, which with less than 9000 residents is the smallest state capital in the USA. It is also the only capital city without a McDonalds!

The state is the leading producer of maple syrup which goes well with their other export, Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. The waste from the ice cream production goes to local farmers who use it to feed their hogs. Vermont’s largest employer is IBM.
