Missouri is in the Midwest region and stretches from the Ozark mountains in the south to the northern plains. Many of its sites can be enjoyed from our Missouri Webcams. Jefferson City, named after the third US President, is the capital city and has just 40,000 residents. Its largest city is Kansas City which is a major railroad hub and a large center for freight.
Many Germans, Irish, English and French settled here giving a very European ancestry group. The many farms produce much of the nation’s pigs, cattle and soy beans and has a developing wine industry.
It has no great extremes with its high point being Taum Sauk Mountain at 1772 feet and its lowest point is the Saint Francis River at 230 feet. Its many national parks and 6000 caves draw millions of visitors every year.
