Staffordshire is the home of Alton Towers theme park, Tamworth SnowDome and the world-famous Potteries, where for centuries Wedgwood, Royal Doulton and Spode have been beautifully crafted. The county town of Stafford has an impressive ruined Castle and the tallest timber-framed townhouse in England, not quite the Empire State Building, but a good try for 1595. |
Burton-on-Trent has an impressive beer-making history and Marmite is the by-products of this industry. A tour of the Coors Visitor Centre (formerly the Bass Museum) is a great day out.
