Staffordshire is the home of Alton Towers theme park, Tamworth SnowDome and the world-famous Potteries, where for centuries Wedgwood, Royal Doulton and Spode have been beautifully crafted. The county town of Stafford has an impressive ruined Castle and the tallest timber-framed townhouse in England, not quite the Empire State Building, but a good try for 1595.
