Virginia can be found on the Atlantic coast of the southern US. During the Civil War more than half the 4000 battles were fought on Virginia’s soil. It is a beautiful natural state, popular for hiking, touring, hunting and fishing.
The Blue Ridge Mountains and the Chesapeake Bay are home to much flora and fauna as you can see from some of our well-placed Virginia webcams. The capital city is historic Richmond, and the largest city is Virginia Beach, close to the region’s main seaport and military bases.
The Department of Defense, NATO and the CIA have their headquarters in Virginia. Agriculture is a major industry, producing tobacco, tomatoes and peanuts along with oysters from Chesapeake Bay.
