Delaware is located on the mid-Atlantic coast and is named after the first Governor, 3rd Baron De La Warr. It is the second smallest state after Rhode Island, so don’t blink, or you may miss it, which would be a shame. It is just 9 miles wide in places and 96 miles long. Prominent in the American Revolution, two Delawareans signed the Declaration of Independence, George Read and Caesar Rodney.
Colourful celebrations are held each September by descendants of the original Nanticoke Indians at the Nanticoke Indian Pow Wow. The entire town of Odessa has been zoned historic for its late 18th century architecture and Barratt’s Chapel is known as the Cradle of Methodism.
