Cumbria is the most north-westerly of England’s counties, bordering Scotland and the Irish Sea. Best known for the stunning natural beauty of the Lake District it includes the highest point in England, Scafell Pike at 3210 feet above sea level. Cumbria’s only city is Carlisle but it has plenty of pretty towns and villages including Keswick and Barrow-in-Furness.
