This southwestern state has a distinctly Spanish flavor. Many residents are descended from Spanish colonists and it has the highest percentage Hispanics in the United States. This sparsely inhabited state is known for its Aztec ruins, pueblos, cliff dwellings, petroglyphs, national parks and monuments. It has a mountainous and arid terrain.
Historic Santa Fe is the state capital and is the highest in the US at 7000 feet. Albuquerque is the most populous city and is home to the New Mexico University, the world’s largest international hot air balloon festival and a great choice of New Mexico Webcams which keep an eye on everything from the weather to the wildlife.
